The legend says that if you eat the flesh of a mermaid, you will live forever. Long ago, a member of the Kannagi clan was said to have actually caught a mermaid and buried it somewhere in the forest on their ancestral lands. Nobody seems to know if he ate the mermaid or not, but since then, the place has been known as the Mermaid Forest.
In the here and now, a Doctor Shiina has become fascinated by the old legends and has made it his life’s work to find an actual mermaid. His gruesome practice is to perform experiments on his dying patients in the hopes of discovering a real mermaid. But when a young girl named Mana is brought to him, it seems he may have finally found what he sought for so long.
